Clube Atletico Paranaense vs Santos Prediction: The hosts will extend their winning streak

One of the matches on Matchday 9 will be between Atletico Paranaense and Santos. Despite the personnel difficulties, Atletico Paranaense is the clear favorite to win the match. The Red and Black have a four-match winning streak, while their opponents have failed to win three games in a row.

After losing to Fluminense on 15 May, Atlético Paranaense played four matches in two tournaments and won all of them. In the Libertadores Cup, the Red-Blacks beat Libertad and Caracas to reach the play-offs. Atlético Paranaense hit Avai and Cuiabá to return to the top-6, i.e., the Libertadores Cup zone in the Brazilian championship. Before the next round, Atletico Paranaense is sixth in the division, three points behind leading Palmeiras. Their home statistics are also sixth, +3=0-1, 4:2 goal difference.

Santos noticeably lacks stability. After beating Union in the South American Cup, they drew with Ceará and Banfield, and in the last round, Santos lost 0:1 to Palmeiras. Santos is currently in ninth place in the Brazilian league standings. Still, only a point behind Atletico Paranaense, meaning Santos could well move up into the Libertadores Cup zone if they win the upcoming game. Santos' away statistics are poor, just 17th in the division, +0=1-2, 1:3 goal difference.

Atletico Paranaense did not see many high-scoring matches, and, what's more, there was never a TO (3.5). And Santos is even an away team on the road. So we doubt that the upcoming game will be productive. As for the outcome, we're in favor of the home side. Atlético Paranaense has excellent home statistics, while Santos is poor away, underperforming and losing regularly.
