Millwall vs Southampton Prediction: Millwall are on four-game losing streak

Millwall will welcome Southampton at The Den in Game Week 15 of the English Championship. Millwall are on a four-game losing streak. Who will come out on top after 90 minutes?

After what seemed to be a disappointing performance in September, Southampton currently have a negative goal difference, which is unusual for a team in fourth place. However, manager Russell Martin is not too concerned as his Saints team has managed to secure an unbeaten streak of six matches, earning 14 points in the process. While dropping points against Rotherham United and Preston North End was frustrating, Martin was impressed with the determination and resilience shown by his players in October. Though they have only managed to keep one clean sheet, Southampton has scored 12 goals in their last six games, demonstrating their ability to score late goals in their past three matches. 

Shaun Hutchinson and Ryan Leonard have both recovered from calf and knee injuries and are expected to be in contention for Millwall. However, it is uncertain whether they will be risked from the start, as Millwall came close to defeating Watford in their last match. If Millwall sticks with a 4-4-2 formation, Ryan Longman will be competing with George Honeyman for a spot on the left flank.

Adam Armstrong has been responsible for one-third of Southampton's league goals, but Martin sees the positive aspect of 11 different players getting on the scoresheet in just 14 matches. On the other hand, Millwall is currently without a permanent manager, with former Southampton boss Nathan Jones being the frontrunner for the position. However, it is unlikely that any appointment will be made before Saturday's match, leaving Adam Barrett in charge. Millwall is aiming to secure their first win since October 3, but they did manage to come from behind and secure a draw against Watford in their previous match. Despite being in 18th place, Millwall is only seven points behind Southampton, showing that they have the potential to turn their season around with a win on Saturday.

 Che Adams is pushing to return from injury, but if he is fit, he would likely start on the bench for Southampton. Samuel Edozie provided an assist in the previous match and will be considered for selection, but manager Martin may choose to field the same Southampton lineup.
