Crystal Palace started the season with a 0:2 home defeat to Arsenal. But it can hardly be considered a failure for the Eagles as the Canaries are now very strong, plus the hosts looked good. In the second leg, they didn't lose at Anfield to Liverpool. In fact, Crystal Palace was in the lead until 61 minutes into the match but then conceded (1:1).

Aston Villa also started the new season with a defeat. In the first leg, the Birmingham side met Bournemouth away and lost 0:2. On the whole, the class of the opponents is now the same. Note that they have exchanged goals in their last three meetings. There's hardly anything to prevent them from doing the same now.
