Angers vs Lorient Prediction: Bottom side Angers welcome Lorient at home

On Sunday, Angers will host mid-table Lorient at Stade Raymond Kopa in an attempt to halt their slide towards the Ligue 1 relegation.

Angers, who are currently six points from safety and are at the bottom of Ligue 1, continued to slide towards an unavoidable relegation when they resumed competitive play on Wednesday. They faced fellow relegation battling Ajaccio at Stade Francois Coty but were unable to respond after falling behind just before halftime; they lost 1-0 to their Corsican opponents and slipped further behind in the battle for survival. Despite losing just their fourth league game of the year in their final match of 2022, Lorient can still look forward to the new year with some optimism. Lorient, who had a strong start to the season, have subsequently fallen behind Lille and Monaco, but they are still ahead of both Lyon and Nice going into 2023.
