Roma vs Lecce Prediction: Will the Giallorossi be able to improve?

Roma suffered an embarrassing home defeat to Betis in the Europa League and will now face Lecce in the Italian league. Will the Giallorossi be able to rehabilitate themselves?

They unexpectedly failed to score in their Europa League group-stage home fixture against Betis on Thursday (1:2). In the first half, they exchanged goals (1:2). The Giallorossi had the lead in the second half. Still, they conceded the decisive goal in the closing stages. Roma are now just three points clear after three rounds - they have almost no margin for error in all three of their second-round group-stage games.

Their disappointing finish against Betis could lie in their hugely successful previous match in the domestic championship. AS Roma beat Inter away (2:1), beating the Nerazzurri for the first time in five years.

On the previous matchday, they faced Cremonese. They drew with their direct rivals with a score of 1:1. Thus, in the last six rounds, Lecce has only one defeat (0:1 away to Torino, one away win over Salernitana, and four draws, including 1:1 away to Napoli). Apart from Torino, the defeats for the Red-Yellows were recorded against Inter (1:2) and Sassuolo (0:1).

Lecce is a perfectly organized team that is always ready to put up a good fight at the start of the league season. In the coming game, it won't be easy for Roma to beat such an unyielding opponent. The Europa League fixture against Betis on Thursday will also hurt the Giallorossi. Roma is still likely to win Lecce thanks to their class difference, but they are unlikely to do so with at least a two-goal margin.
