Lokomotiva Zagreb vs Varazdin Prediction: Both teams are still waiting for their first win

It's time for the third round of the Supersport HNL, and Lokomotiva welcomes the team from Varazdin. Both teams are currently winless in their first two matches. Lokomotiva Zagreb are a big favorite ahead of this clash, for which there is really no reason other than the home field. But,Varazdin managed to remain undefeated in the first two matches of this season, so all options are open for this match.

Lokomotiva showed that they have big problems in the attack and that they will have to start much more openly against Varazdin than in the first two matches of this season. It is a very young team with an average age of 23.8 and a large number of talented players in its composition. In the first round against Istra, they played a draw, and Vladan Bubanja secured a point for Lokomotiva in the 70th minute of the match. In the second round, they suffered a heavy defeat against Gorica away from home, conceding a goal in the 91st minute of the match. We believe that defeat has additionally awakened the players of Lokomotiva and we expect them to start very strongly from the first minute in the match against Varazdin.

Last season, Varazdin were one of the competitors in the fight for Europe, but in the end, they faltered and finished in a solid sixth place for them, with only three points less than Rijeka, which finished in fourth place. One of the best players, Tonio Teklic, will continue his career in Turkey, Marko Stolnik, Mateo Topic, Andris Herrera, and Jozo Stanic also left the team. Experienced players Ante Vukusic and Karlo Brucic arrived in Varazdin. Perhaps the biggest boost for Varazdin is the extension of cooperation with Lamine Ba and Leonard Vuk, as well as the team's top scorer from last season, Fran Brodic. Both Lokomotiva and Varazdin had a bad start to the season, although they are still without a single win, and the fact is that they played against opponents they should have won. Their self-confidence is certainly at a lower level than it should be and this is a very important game for both teams in order to avoid having to face a lot of pressure in the early stages of the season. The statistics say that Varazdin have only beaten Lokomotiva once in the last 10 games, and therefore the team from Zagreb is a strong favorite. However, I expect both teams to play offensive football and a match with many goals.
