Cadiz vs Espanyol Prediction: Will the southerners win on home soil for the first time?

In the eighth round of the Spanish football championship, Cadiz will face Espanyol. The Catalans, who haven't won three games in a row, are quoted by bookmakers as the slight favorites for the meeting.

After a poor start and five successive defeats, Cadiz has scored four points in two consecutive games, most importantly without conceding a goal. The Southerners beat Valladolid (1:0) away and drew 0:0 with Villarreal. Thanks to that, Cadiz climbed up from 20th to 19th in the standings. Cadiz's home statistics are still the worst in the division: 0-0=1-3, 0:9 goal difference.

If Cadiz is slowly getting better, Espanyol, on the other hand, is not as good as it could be. After a sensational 1:0 win over Athletic, the Catalans have played three La Liga games in which they have picked up just one point. Espanyol lost to Sevilla and Real Sociedad, scoring one point against Valencia, noting that all three games in the period were high-scoring. Before the start of the eighth round, Espanyol is in 16th position with five points on a goal difference of 9:14. Espanyol has played three away matches, achieving one win, one draw, and one defeat.

Both teams make a poor impression, but at least Cadiz has built up their confidence after two consecutive dry matches and four points. Espanyol has one surprising away win over Athletic, but that's all. We believe that Espanyol is overrated, and we wouldn't be surprised if Cadiz picks up their first home win of the season on Sunday.
