Detroit Red Wings vs Nashville Predators Prediction: Don’t expect many pucks

Detroit is having a disappointing regular season, although the level of expectations for their performance was very solid. Already last season, the Red Wings showed progress in their results; they started to get closer to the playoff zone, and last offseason, they did a great job of strengthening the roster. It seemed that now they will definitely be in cup eight, but so far, there are big problems with the solution of this problem. They are playing particularly poorly in December: in the last 11 meetings, they have beaten only St. Louis and Philadelphia - 7:6 and 6:4, respectively, and in the remaining nine cases, they lost, because of which they have fallen to 12th place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Nashville is doing quite well in the current regular season. It's not without bad stretches, but they are followed by a successful series, which allows them to improve the situation. For example, they had a seven-game losing streak in November but then won six games in a row. At the equator of December, the Predators won four more in a row. Still, then they had a slight slump: in the last four battles, they beat only Philadelphia - 4:2 while losing to Vancouver - 2:5, Dallas - 2:3, as well, and Carolina - 2:5. The uneven results allowed Nashville to settle for now on the eighth line in the Western Conference standings.

Detroit approaches the upcoming confrontation, being in a disgusting condition. In the last 11 meetings, they have only two wins, lost once more outside of regulation time, and were left without any points in eight cases. Obviously, the Red Wings are far from their optimal state, giving the visitors a great chance to succeed. The Predators have been great on the road lately, winning six out of seven, and they're playing great against the Red and White, winning seven of their previous eight games.

Detroit and Nashville do not often spoil us with bright and spectacular hockey lately. In the three previous head-to-head meetings, the rivals have combined efforts to manage only 11 goals (3.67 average per game). In addition, only on one occasion out of five have the Red Wings and Predators scored at least two pucks against each other. Now, we should not expect a high-scoring match.
