Hurricanes vs. Moana Pasifika: Some New Changes Awaiting You at the Rescheduled Match of Hurricanes with Moana

Ardie Savea, the outstanding Hurricanes captain, has been rested for Tuesday's catch-up Super Rugby Pacific encounter against Moana Pasifika in Wellington on April 12th, 2022. Following the injury of fellow former Wallaby Sekope Kepu, Christian Leali'ifano will take over as Moana Pasifika skipper in place of Reed Prinsep.

Following Saturday's painful loss to the Crusaders, Hurricanes coach Jason Holland has placed his whole support behind captain Ardie Savea. Savea chose to forego a straightforward penalty chance at goal, which would have pushed the game into extra time, in order to score the game-winning try. However, the strategy backfired when Scott Barrett played spoiler in the lineout and Savea's protests to the refereeing team were ignored.

With Savea out, Reed Prinsep will captain the Hurricanes, while Christian Leali'ifano will take over for fellow former Wallaby Sekope Kepu as Moana Pasifika captain following the injury to the prop. The Hurricanes are out for vengeance after being taken aback by Moana Pasifika's first-ever triumph in their earlier match this year.

Moana Pasifika head coach Aaron Mauger has also made changes to his starting lineup following a 37-17 loss to the Highlanders in Round Eight of Super Rugby Pacific in Dunedin.

Former fly-half Christian Lealiifano will captain the team, and he will form a half-back pairing with Jonathan Taumateine, with Levi Aumua and Danny Toala starting in the centres. In the comparable match between these sides in Round Five, Toala memorably scored the golden point try in extra time, securing a historic first victory for Moana Pasifika.

The rest of the backline is made up of Tima Fainga'anuku and Neria Foma'i, who will start on the wings, and Lolagi Visinia, who will start at full-back.
