Hammad Miah – The Champ is Back to Take Over

Miah defeated world number 22 Ricky Walden 10–7 in World Championship qualifying, and after defeating Martin O'Donnell 10–7, he faced Rory McLeod, with the winner advancing to the Crucible. Miah dropped the first seven frames before winning the next six. He would eventually be trounced 7–10.

He left the tour at the conclusion of 2017/18 but enrolled in Q School in an attempt to rejoin the tour immediately. He won the first tournament of Q School, which means he gets a pro tour card for at least the next two years.

.

Chen Zifan – Here To Give A Hard Time

Chen's second season was a flop. He only won three of his twenty matches, including two against amateurs.

Chen's finest achievement was a run to the third round of the UK Championship when he defeated Yuan Sijun and Yan Bingtao 6-5. He subsequently lost 6-1 against Anthony McGill, but the ranking points he earned were crucial to his tour survival. He fell 4-0 against Mark King at the Scottish Open the next week without potting a single ball.

He needed a win in the World Championship to secure his professional survival via the 1-year list. This he accomplished by defeating Mitchell Mann 6-5 and hitting the table once more. He was then defeated 6-1 by Stuart Bingham. Chen was rated 76 at the end of the season.
