Alexander Bublik vs Lorenzo Sonego Prediction: the Italian to be the Triumphant

In the final of the Metz tournament, Alexander Bublik, No. 44, and Lorenzo Sonego, No. 65, will meet. The guys know each other well, having met four times, 3-1 in favor of the Italian. Despite the statistics of head-to-head encounters the bookmakers did not reveal a favorite.

Unfortunately, the semifinals did not work out. Wawrinka withdrew from the match already with a score of 1-2 in favor of his opponent in the first set. The veteran had problems after a long match in the quarterfinals. However, Bublik definitely stayed fresh for the decisive match in Metz. Lorenzo fired twice without double faults and won 84% of his first and 60% of his second serves. On the receiving end, the Italian was 28%/38%. Before beating Hurkacz, Sonego outplayed Karatsev, Simon, and Korda without giving a single set at the tournament.

It's not at all certain that we would have seen Bublik in the final, if Wawrinka would have played the semifinals. But Sonego deserved to play in the decisive match as he has not lost a single set at the tournament, knocking out the former winner and the main favorite at the time. In addition, Sonego has the advantage in personal meetings. The Italian beat the Kazakhstani on hard court in the hall and even on the favorite Bublik grass.
