Novak Djokovic vs Stanislas Wawrinka Prediction: Another Thashing Showdown by Djokovic?

In the last 16 of the Rome Masters, Novak Djokovic will face the Swiss tennis player Stan Wawrinka. In the past, this confrontation could be called a top one. Now, according to numerous bookmakers, the Swiss does not have a chance to win the match against the best player in the world.

As we expected, Djokovic had no problems with Karatsev - an easy 2-0 victory in an hour and 31 minutes. Aslan won only five games despite the fact that Novak did not turn on his fast and furious mode. Overall, the Serb fired once and made two double faults, winning 76% of first-serve points and 65% of second. On reception the Balkan had 30% on the first serve and 70% on the second. Djokovic is obviously aiming for winning the tournament. Recall that last week in Madrid Novak Djokovic reached the semifinals, in which he lost in three sets to Spanish prodigy Carlos Alcaraz.

Wawrinka started the clay season in Marbella, losing his first match to Sweden's Ymer. Then an unsuccessful tournament in Monte Carlo - defeat by Bublik and a three-week break. He had already played twice in Rome, winning both. First he beat Opelka in three sets, and then Laslo Djere in three sets as well. The match against the latter was protracted - almost three hours. Stan won the first game on a tiebreak 10-8, lost the second 3-6 and won the deciding set 6-4. Wawrinka is in relatively good form compared to the start of the clay court season, but it is doubtful if he can put up much of a fight against Djokovic.

We do not think that Wawrinka has any chance of winning a set in the upcoming game. After failing in Belgrade, Djokovic played well in Madrid and started the Rome Masters with a convincing win over Karartsev. The world number one is in good shape. Djokovic needs to reach at least the semifinals in order to retain his ranking. We expect another convincing victory for Novak on the courts of the Roman capital.
