Daniil Medvedev vs Christopher O'Connell Prediction: Betting on the Russian player

Russian Daniil Medvedev's second opponent at the tournament in New York will be the 69th ATP ranking number, Australian O`Connell. The guys have already crossed paths with each other twice on Tour, including here in New York in 2020. Both matches were won by Daniel, who is listed as the big favorite in the pairing.

Before the US Open, Medvedev failed at both Masters in the New World. In Toronto, Medvedev lost in two games to De Minaur, and in Cincinnati, he was weaker than Zverev. The Australian played even worse than Medvedev in Toronto and Cincinnati. Christopher lost to Garin in Canada, and in Ohio, he was weaker than German Altmaier. In the first round of the American Majors, O'Connell knocked out his compatriot Max Purcell. The match against Max lasted almost three hours; Christopher won it with the score 6:4, 6:3, 3:6, 7:6. During the match, the 69th-ranked player had 18 aces and three double faults, won 80% of points on his first serve and 44% on his second serve.

Medvedev played an excellent first-round match against Balash; there is hope that Daniil has found his game and will play better in New York than in Toronto and Ohio. Daniil's opponent will not be a top tennis player but a familiar one. Medvedev has already beaten the Australian twice, including in New York three years ago.
