(SinoCast via NewsEdge) NTT DoCoMo is facing a dilemma in finding a partner in its planned rolled out of 3G in China, because the Ministry of Information Industry of China has not granted 3G licenses yet, a company executive said.

Takeshi Natsuno, SVP for multimedia services of NTT DoCoMo, also said the company could decide which kind of strategic alliances it wants to set up with the Chinese partners after it knows what kind of 3G technology standard Chinese mobile telecom carriers will take.

The only thing NTT DoCoMO could do now is wait, the executive said.

Natsuno also said that at least one Chinese telecom carrier, which the executive did not name, will use the W-CDMA standard, which is the very standard that DoCoMo is also using.

Industry observers said China Mobile, the largest mobile telecom carrier in China, would be the ideal partner of NTT DoCoMo.
