Japan's NTT DoCoMo plans to launch 225Mbps LTE-Advanced services next month in 22 prefectures across the nation.
The company aims to debut its 225Mbps carrier aggregation service on March 27, and implement a further 300Mbps upgrade towards the end of the financial year ending in March 2016.
LTE-A launch locations will include Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka, and DoCoMo aims to expand the network nationwide by March 2016. The network will deliver maximum uplink speeds of 50Mbps.
DoCoMo's LTE-Advanced network will use Advanced C-RAN architecture, which is designed to increase radio capacity and maximum transmission speed in high-traffic areas.
The network will initially support two DoCoMo mobile Wi-Fi routers, one which is already on the market and a second expected to launch in March. Compatible smartphones will be introduced in the near future.
With the debut, DoCoMo expects to be the first operator in Japan to implement a 225Mbps LTE-A upgrade.
The GSA recently revealed that 20 operators in 15 countries have now launched Category 6 LTE-A services.
