DVEO is now shipping their new live 4K encoding and decoding solution.

As a supplier to broadcasters, telco TV/OTT and cable operators around the world, DVEO introduced the iCandy at the Hollywood Professional Alliance’s recent 2016 HPA Tech Retreat for post-production professionals.

The real time Linux based system is said to deliver pristine 4K H.264 video, making it ideal for news, satellite, and sports contribution. It is also recommended for event streaming via ISPs or CDNs.

The iCandy features an H.264 encoder and streamer with 6G SDI input and IP output, plus a matching decoder with IP input and 6G SDI output. Versions with optional HDMI input and output are also available.

In a related offering, Actions Semiconductor said last November it has launched its GT7 chipset featuring 4K H.265 decoding, quad-core 64-bit CPU and quad-core GPU targeting the global over-the-top set-top box market.

Actions is one of China's fabless semiconductor companies that provides portable multimedia and mobile Internet system-on-a-chip solutions for portable consumer electronics.

The GT7 supports up to 4K Ultra HD decoding for the latest international standard — HEVC/H.265 video decoding and up to 1080P full HD decoding for nearly all video standards and formats.
