Hanging around for mobile email

AxisMobile is promoting a "prosumer" version of its SimpleMail solution, which allows mobile phone users to receive and send email via their handsets. Pitched as a low-cost alternative to BlackBerry (which requires a dedicated device), Prosumer SimpleMail supports PIM synchronization with remote corporate servers like Microsoft Exchange.

The solution also allows users to view heavy attachments like PDFs, Microsoft Word documents and images by reformatting them to smaller files that the handset can read before sending them from the email server to the handset, according to AxisMobile sales VP Sharon David.

Oh, and the upside down mannequins‾ Think "attachments". See‾
