The TD-LTE ecosystem took another stride towards maturity on Friday, with Huawei revealing it will launch what it says will be the world's first TD-LTE router in October.

Huawei announced it will first make its Huawei B593 LTE wireless broadband router available through Saudi Arabia's Mobily.

The product will support both TDD and FDD variants of LTE, and provide support for up to 32 Wi-Fi devices, as well as Ethernet connectivity.

Mobily plans to use LTE in part to provide coverage in areas of West Asia where low population density makes fixed-line rollouts infeasible.

The vendor did not say when the product might be available elsewhere, but implied that it would be soon afterwards.

Huwaei launched its first FDD LTE router in Germany in December last year.
