Here's some international networking news quick-takes:

Orange Business Services got a little bit larger yesterday. They have acquired Log'in Consultants, a subsidiary of the Log'in International Group. The deal brings virtual desktop integration services in house, incorporating entities in the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium to the enterprise space. Orange already has these capabilities in France, and yesterday's deal adds new geographies to the mix.

Aqua Comms signed up a new high profile customer to its AEConnect cable system. CenturyLink has activated two 100Gbps circuits between New York and London, adding diversity and capacity to their transatlantic capabilities. The circuits are lit PoP-to-PoP with no regeneration in between, and feature diverse terrestrial segments on both ends. Aqua Comms just turned up AEConnect a little over 6 months ago.

Menawhile, Interoute picked up some cloud business this week. CPI Books will be shifting its Highway platform and the WAN that supports it onto Interoute's cloud and networking infrastructure. Interoute's Paris Data Centre will be doing the hosting, backed up by London, with all of CPI's 20 locations across 7 countried hooked up as well.

Verizon is getting down to business with NG-PON2. They have invited Calix/Ericsson and ADTRAN back to their Waltham, MA lab to test their technology. NG-PON2's standards were finalized last year, and Verizon will be looking to upgrade its FIOS network to take advantage. NG-PON2 promises 40G capacities and up to 10G per customer connection.

And AT&T is taking its NFV efforts global. They have now launched their Network Functions on Demand suite across 76 countries and 6 continents. Built off of their SDN implementation, AT&T is now offering virtual routers from Juniper and Cisco, virtual security from Fortinet, and WAN optimization from Riverbed.

Followup: minutes later, Verizon also took its NFV efforts global with a big launch.
