Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) has teamed up with India's Hungama Digital Media Entertainment to launch an OTT entertainment platform for the operator's broadband customers.

SLT will work with Hungama and its local partner Evoke International to offer customers video streaming, music download and gaming services that it says have never been experienced in the nation.

The platform will include a large collection of Hollywood, Bollywood, Tamil, Theligu and Sinhala movies and songs, as well as video games. The digital products will be purchasable via carrier billing.

Evoke International will be responsible for content delivery via local servers.

SLT will initially offer access to the service for its broadband customers for a subscription fee. The company will then progressively expand services to customers of mobile unit Mobitel and IPTV service PEO TV, and then to all internet users in Sri Lanka.

“Our customers are already experiencing world class personalized television entertainment through our PEO TV service. Through this important partnership with Hungama, we wish to add more value to our customers and provide them with high quality, world class entertainment content at their fingertips,” SLT CEO Dileepa Wijesundera commented.

“We are certain that this will totally redefine their entertainment experience.”
