Mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion company UFC has partnered digital sports platform PPTV to stream its live events to Chinese viewers.

The company said the localized content would support UFC promotions in the social media and digital marketing environment.

Ken Berger, EVP and general manager of UFC Asia, said: “This landmark deal displays the rapid growth and demand for premium MMA content in China. The UFC recognizes that it really is only a matter of time before we start seeing champions emerge from China”.

China is emerging as a significant breeding ground for talented MMA athletes who are increasingly taking their place on the world’s MMA stage.

With 14 Chinese fighters within the UFC and an actively engaged fan base in China, UFC said the partnership would also cater to the growing demand for UFC content in Asia.
