Universal Pictures International (UPI) will be using a mini game based on the Branded Mini-Games platform to promote its upcoming movie “Pixels” in South Korea.

The game, to be available on the Sony Pictures Korea Facebook page until July 19, is expected to create interest in the movie by incorporating elements of the storyline with classic arcade games, reminding viewers of their childhood and younger days.

Users can also participate in a “Spot the Difference” contest, which requires them to spot the difference between two movie posters. The top 20 participants on the event leader board will receive prizes.

Pixels, due for a US release in July, is a story about aliens intercepting video feeds of classic arcade games from earth and misreading them as a declaration of war, leading to an invasion of earth using these arcade games as models.

The movie is headlined by leading Hollywood stars including Adam Sandler, Kevin James and Peter Dinklage.
