Indonesia's XL Axiata has contracted Amdocs to enhance the operator's XL Tunai mobile financial services platform.

Under the seven-year managed services revenue-sharing contracts, Amdocs will provide its Mobile Financial Services (MFS) solution to help XL introduce new services.

Using a managed services model, Amdocs will deploy and operate the MFS implementation, which will replace XL Axiata's home-grown legacy system. Amdocs will also provide dedicated business accelerator services working with XL Axiata's business team.

The MFS platform will allow XL Tunai to allow its banked and unbanked customers to use a single wallet for all financial services including prepaid credit top-up, money transfer as well as online and retail payments.

In future the operator also plans to introduce the ability for XL Tunai customers to pay for TV media service, insurance and travel purchases.

“XL Tunai is one of the most comprehensive mobile financial services in Indonesia,” XL Axiata digital service director Ongki Kurniawan said.

“With around 42 million subscribers and a strong ecosystem of dealers and merchants, we now have the capability to further enhance our XL Tunai services. Amdocs’ MFS solution along with their expert business acceleration services will enable us to quickly expand and roll out new innovative services for both banked and unbanked users.”
