Messi Would Have Retired From Argentina Without World Cup Victory

Inter Miami forward and Argentine national team player Lionel Messi has confessed that he would have retired from the national team after the 2022 World Cup if they had not won.

The Albiceleste won the World Cup by defeating France in the final match through a penalty shootout. Messi has played 180 matches for the Argentine national team since 2005.

The Argentine said on the As Big Time podcast:

Lionel Messi
Winning the World Cup for us, our families, our entire country - it's a magical moment, and it will stay with us for life. Had things not gone the way they did in the tournament in Qatar, I would have left the national team.

Earlier, Messi admitted that he had not yet thought about what he would do after retiring. Additionally, Lionel became the second person in the world with 500 million followers on Instagram.
