Alcatel-Lucent to deploy IP core/edge router for DoCoMo

Alcatel-Lucent will deploy its IP core/edge router – the 7950 Extensible Routing System – for NTT DoCoMo.

The deployment will enable the Japanese mobile carrier to increase the operational performance of its 4G mobile network while reducing the cost of operations.

The 7950 XRS is based on Alcatel-Lucent’s Service Router Operating System (SROS). It supports the move of network virtualization and enables network automatization, Alcatel-Lucent said in a statement.

Robi e-Sheba available on WhatsApp

Robi Axiata, a joint venture between Axiata Group and NTT DoCoMo, has introduced its e-Sheba customer service on the popular WhatsApp communication platform targeting its tech savvy subscribers.

Customers can now access customer care and access services through this digital platform, in addition to the more conventional customer care channels.

The WhatsApp service channel is initially available to Robi customers from 8am to 12am (7 days a week) Bangladesh Standard Time, the operator said.

ST Telemedia invests in IoT-enabler Greenwave

Singapore Technologies Telemedia (ST Telemedia), has announced its investment in US-based IoT enabler Greenwave Systems (Greenwave), continuing the Singaporean firm’s expansion into next-generation technology platform.

ST Telemedia said it is the lead investor, providing the majority of the funds in Greenwave's latest $45 million Series C financing round. ST Telemedia is represented on Greenwave’s board of directors.

The investment in Greenwave enables ST Telemedia to participate in the attractive growth prospects of IoT. The company will assist Greenwave with market insights, partnerships and portfolio businesses to accelerate the latter’s expansion in the Asia Pacific region.
