Saudi Telecom picked Huawei to deploy the Middle East’s largest pre-commercial long term evolution network in Saudi Arabia. The roll out is expected to be complete by the end of 2010, covering major metropolitan areas such as Riyadh and Dammam.

Sony and IPWireless signed an agreement to jointly research and develop wireless technologies for 4G and beyond. The two companies will initially focus on enhancing long term evolution technology for new applications and services.
NEC, Telefonica wrap up LTE lab tests
NEC said it has successfully carried out long term evolution laboratory trials with Telefonica. Trials took place between February and March, and achieved a maximum throughput of 95Mbps using an actual LTE terminal.
