Hutchison Telecom Hong Kong has joined forces with Vodafone Global Enterprise to enhance its enterprise services and expand its roaming footprint.

The partnership - which is part of a deal that Vodafone signed with the Conexus Mobile Alliance last September – will see Hutchison Telecom offer multinational customers with a range of managed services and solutions provided by Vodafone Global Enterprise. These include consolidated bid management for RFPs, single master service agreement, central procurement system and online telecom expense management.

Amy Lung, chief operating officer of Hutchison Telecom Hong Kong, said these features are very important to corporate customers and the partnership also helps extend its roaming coverage to 65 networks worldwide.

“It allows us to get better roaming rates, which provide us with more flexibility to provide cheaper and diversified roaming packages to our customers,” Lung said, adding that the company aims to deliver as much as 50% cost saving to its customers.

It is estimated that mobile spending from multinational corporations would worth as much as 16 billion euro for global market, and 700 million euro Asia Pacific region.

The two companies will also work together on launching new services like M2M and new devices, Lung added.

Lung said the partnership will focus on 3G/HSPDA services only. Lung noted that Hutchison Telecom has yet decided the exact launch date of the LTE network, to be operated by Genius Brand, its 4G joint venture formed with PCCW’s Hong Kong Telecom.

“We would launch the [4G] service only when there are sufficient LTE handsets in the market,” she said. “We want to make sure that the time we launch LTE, it’s not with just one single dongle.”
