US software giant Microsoft and Japanese vendor Fujitsu have reportedly agreed to co-operate on cloud computing.
The WSJ, citing a source close to the deal, said Microsoft and Fujitsu would announce an agreement in the coming weeks.
Under the deal, Microsoft will reportedly tap Fujitsu’s data centers and customer base.
For its part, Fujitsu will offer Microsoft’s cloud services operating system Windows Azure.
The Japanese vendor plans to offer cloud computing services at its existing data centers in the UK, Australia, Singapore, Germany and the US by March 2011.
It has earmarked 100 billion yen ($1.1 billion) to spend on cloud computing R&D and capex in the year to end-March.
