Multi-technology SON solution

Celcite Management Solutions has launched a multi-technology Self-Organizing Networks (SON) solution specifically developed to measure and manage the interaction between the different technologies and layers in LTE networks.

Celcite says the solution is designed to address the problem of legacy networks becoming more layered and complex as operators integrate multiband (i.e. 700/900/1800/2100/2600MHz), multi-carrier systems and combines GSM, UMTS, HSPA and LTE technologies.

The required inter-technology interaction now has a three-dimensional impact on network performance, and while present LTE SON standards (Rel9) include several use cases such as Plug & Play installation, Automatic Neighbor Relation (ANR) or handover (HO) optimization, these are only valid for single-vendor networks.

“In reality the mobile operators will continue to employ underlying multi-vendor GSM / UMTS / HSPA networks that carry substantial traffic/ARPU, and these will need to be maintained and optimized alongside LTE deployment,” the company said in a statement.

Celcite Multi-Technology SON’s centralized vendor-agnostic platform processes terabytes of network information – KPIs / KQIs along with configuration / alarms data – and provides root cause analysis and optimization recommendations to improve network KPIs, based on the automatic intelligent algorithms.
