Nokia announced that it will conduct test on its DVB-H broadcast mobile TV standard with India's national television broadcaster Doordarshan,

The firm, in a statement, also said it will deliver its mobile broadcast solution to Doordarshan in early 2007.

Nokia said during this pilot, Doordarshan will test the reception quality of the broadcast coverage, and explore options of supporting different service schemes, such as advertising and interactive services.

The pilot will also enable Doordarshan to gauge consumer expectations of the service going forward, Nokia said.

'India becomes one of the leading countries in Asia to deploy live broadcast mobile TV bringing Indian consumers a step closer to watching their favorite programs on their mobile devices,' said Jawahar Kanjilal, director, multimedia, Nokia Asia Pacific.

As the national television broadcaster of India, Doordarshan runs the largest free-to-air satellite services covering the entire country.

Its analog territory broadcast network covers more than 92% of India providing free news, sports and entertainment.
