Redline Communications and Starent Networks will co-develop carrier-grade mobile Wimax solutions, the two companies announced.

The joint solution will incorporate Redline's RedMAX 4C line of mobile Wimax radio access network products and Starent's ASN Gateway and Home Agent (HA) solution for mobile Wimax networks.

The two companies are eyeing to develop mobile Wimax solutions that will allow carriers to leverage on current infrastructure, including CPEs and applications.

Meanwhile, Redline said it will use picoChip's PC8532 modem for its RedMAX 4CTM Mobile Wimax base stations.

The agreement gives Redline access to a software defined radio (SDR) platform that supports upgrades to future standards, such as LTE, 802.16e Release 1.5 and 802.16m, the company said.
