China TechFaith Wireless Communication Technology and QIGI have entered into cooperation agreement to launch four new high-end smartphones for China Telecom and China Unicom customers in the second quarter of 2009.

Two of the models are CDMA1X smartphones. One will be the first Android-powered CDMA phone and the other will run on Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system.

The other two models, EVDO Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone and WCDMA Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone, are designed specifically for the 3G network recently rolled out in China.

'We believe the market for smartphones will grow significantly in the coming year," said Wilson Cai, deputy CEO of TechFaith.
