Bharti Airtel CTO Jagbir Singh quits

Bharti Airtel's chief technology officer Jagbir Singh has resigned from his post. He will be succeeded by Abhay Savargaonkar, the Indian operator’s chief of network operations.

Singh confirmed his resignation to the Times of India but declined to share the reason for his exit. However, people aware of the matter said Singh is in talks with another telecom operator for his next assignment.

Singh has been working with Bharti Airtel for more than 10 years, holding the post of director network services and overseeing the networks division and introduction of newer technology across Airtel's Indian and South Asian operations. He was also the member of the Airtel Management Board, the company's highest decision-making unit.

He joins a list of senior-level executives who have quit the operator in the last one year after Gopal Vittal took over as chief executive.

People familiar to the situation said 42 out of close to 100 top-level professionals in the company are believed to have exited the telecom operator in the past one year owing to significant changes in operations and focus areas.

Five senior executives, including the legal and regulatory head, Jyoti Pawar, were reportedly left the company last month.
