The final of the IIHF’s ICe Hockey Women’s World Championship lived up to its billing as the game went into overtime where Canada came up on top playing at home in Calgary. The game remained knotted at two-each till the end of third period and it took an overtime to decide the winner as both teams gave their best in a tense contest.

USA began the game with a huge advantage as Alex Carpenter nailed two goals within the first thirteen minutes. It took twelve minutes for Canada to find an answer as Brianne Jenner nailed the first goal for Canada and then within two minutes, Canadian offense found another opening as Jamie Lee Rattray got another goal. Neither team scored a goal for the next thirty minutes as the game went into Overtime. However, Marie-Philip Poulin finally found a way to get a lead as she nailed a goal at the sixty-seventh minute mark of the Overtime as Canada claimed the gold and USA ended their campaign with a silver.
