Uruguayan forward Luis Suárez commented on the departure of the national team from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which runs from November 20 to December 18.

It hurts very much to say goodbye to the World Cup like this, but we are calm at heart because we are doing the best we can for our country. We are proud to be Uruguayans, even though we aren't respected. Thank you to every Uruguayan who supported us!" - Suárez wrote on social media.

On December 2, the Uruguayan national team defeated the national team of Ghana in the third round of the group stage match in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which ended with a score of 2-0. Midfielder Giorgian De Arrascaeta scored a double for the winners.
