Former UFC middleweight title challenger Uriah Hall revealed that he had suicidal thoughts after deciding to end his MMA career, as the uncertainty of his future became a huge burden.

After leaving MMA, I fell into a really deep hole. I fell into a deep depression. I realized I had nothing else to do. I had spent the last 20 years of my life devoting myself, my soul, to one cause, and then suddenly it was gone, it was taken away. So I really found myself in dark places, but luckily there were people around who supported me. When I was feeling depressed, at one point I even looked at my firearm. Depression is a real thing, and if you don't have the right support group, support system, you're not going to get out of it. I sat on my couch for literally a week straight, not knowing what to do. I remember when I opened the door and saw the sunlight for the first time, I thought, "What the hell." Literally, when I just got up and went outside, it helped me.
