Germany vs Poland Prediction: Germans to make amends for the semifinal loss

The German national team was unable to repeat the success of 1993, reaching the EuroBasket home finals. Now the Germans will have only a match for third place against Poland. Will the hosts be able to finish the tournament with the bronze? We will choose several bets at once.

The semifinal game against Spain was goign very well for the Germans. Gordon Herbert's team led from the middle of the first quarter and at some points it even looked like they had some momentum. But first, at the end of the third quarter Germany let the Spaniards go from -10 to -6. Then at the beginning of the fourth quarter, Germany also lost this advantage and quickly let Spain gain a 6-point lead. Germany failed to overcome that handicap and lost 91-96. In effect, the hosts gave up a game they had already won by losing to themselves.

Special mention should go to Denis Schroder in the semifinals, with 30 points – the point guard had a phenomenal tournament. Andreas Obst also made 5 of 8 three-pointers. As for Daniel Theis and Franz Wagner, they scored 10+ points, but compared to the quarterfinals against Greece they looked poor.

After unexpectedly beating defending European champion Slovenia in the quarterfinals, Poland simply didn't seem to have enough energy or emotion for a semifinal against France. The Blues literally destroyed the Poles 95-54. From the first to the last second of the game, there was no question as to the winner.

Despite their horrendous loss to France, Igor Milicic's team can surely take credit for their win in this EuroBasket contest. Hardly anyone expected Poland to contend for medals on the final day of the tournament.

The rivals met twice in the last qualifying for the World Cup, Germany beating Poland in both matches.

In the last six face-offs, the Germans have five victories over the Poles.

The semifinals brought the German national team a big disappointment. It is not even the fact of the defeat that should be offensive for the Germans, but the way it happened – the inexperienced Germans practically gave the victory to the old fox Sergio Scariolo by themselves. In the match for third place, Gordon Herbert's team will surely take out their frustration on the Poles. The French showed their level in the semifinals, and Germany, too, will probably have no problem outplaying their overachieving opponent.

Prediction: a confident win for Germany.
