Corinthians vs Coritiba Prediction: Will the hosts retain third place?

One of the leaders in the Brazilian league, Corinthians, will face Coritiba in round 18 of the Brazilian championship. The Timao are the big favorites, but both teams have staffing problems that could affect the result of the game.

After their success in the Libertadores Cup, with Corinthians knocking Boca Juniors out of the prestigious tournament, the club from Sao Paulo beat Flamengo 1:0 on home soil. The Timao side seemed in great form, but after beating Mengao, they lost the Brazilian Cup to Santos, 0:1, and in the Brazilian championship to Ceara (1:3). Corinthians is currently third, four points behind leading Palmeiras. Timao has the best home statistics in the division, +5=3-0, 10:2 goal difference. Corinthians has the league's best conceded goals index at 0.25.

Coritiba is noticeably lacking stability, with the visitors having scored just four points in their last five games, beating Fortaleza and drawing with Juventude, but losing to Atletico Paranaense, Flamengo and Inter. The visitors are 16th in the standings, above the relegation zone, but they are just one point behind America. Their away statistics are the worst in the division, with no wins, two draws and six defeats on a 7:18 goal difference.

Considering the statistics of their head-to-head encounters, the status of their opponents and their stats in the current Brasileiro competition, it's obvious that we should bet on Corinthians to win. The last five head-to-head encounters between our teams, played in Sao Paulo, have been productive. We hope both trends will continue and Corinthians will score another home win in a productive encounter.
