Alaves vs Rayo Vallecano: Bet on a narrow win for the Basques

Saturday pool of the Spanish La Liga round 33 will continue with the match between Alaves and Rayo Vallecano. For Alaves, every upcoming match in the championship is like the last battle, which can never be lost. While the Red Sashes are in the middle of the table, they do not need the points like the Basques, but they still cannot guarantee their place in the elite next season, so we cannot say that the visitors are not motivated.

Alaves has been winless for the last seven games in La Liga. During this period, the Basques only drew twice, with Getafe away and Sevilla at home, while the other five matches ended in a loss. Unsurprisingly, the future hosts are at the bottom of the standings, seven points behind 17th-placed Mallorca with seven games to go. Let's face it, in such a situation Alaves have little chance of salvation. Rayo also has nothing to brag about. The team from the Spanish capital has not known victory for 11 games in two tournaments. But the situation is not critical for the Vallecans, thanks to the excellent first round. Rayo played two matches in April and both ended in a draw: 2-2 away with Granada and 1-1 at home with Valencia. Before round 32 starts, Rayo is in 13th position, with an asset of 34 points. The Madrid side has terrible statistics on the road, 18th in the division, with one win in 14 games and a goal difference of 10-25.

Alaves and Rayo have played each other 39 times: 15 Basque victories, seven draws and 17 victories for the Madrid team. In La Liga, the teams have played 26 matches out of which 10 were won by the Basques, with five draws and 11 victories for Rayo. The home side enjoys a distinct advantage of +10=4-5 in their 19 matches on goal difference of 30-13.

The Primera is almost at the finish line, and in order to get out of the relegation zone the Basques need only victories in such matches as the upcoming one. Rayo Vallecano had an excellent first round, but in the second half of the season the Red Sashes have huge problems with the results.
