Andrey Rublev vs Novak Djokovic Prediction: Is there any stopping Djokovic? Rublev will spin his dice

The tennis world is full of riveting battles and each tournament comes with a lot of prize money, pride, and ranking. While each month we see new tournaments, the allure of Grand Slams can’t be matched. This is the stage where stars are made and the tennis fanbase is at its peak. The Australian Open is one of the four Grand Slams and it is more than 100 years old. In this game of the Australian Open, Andrey Rublev is going to take on Novak Djokovic 

Rublev comes into the game after a steaming battle against Holger Rune. He defeated Holger 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. 4-6. 7-6(11-9). It was one of the best battles of the tournament and young Rune gave Rublev all he could handle. Andrey did a great job of nailing 22 Aces and took advantage of Rune’s unforced errors. He had 37 of them compared to 60 by Holger. He saved two match points too and hit 58 winners compared to 44 by Holger. Rublev extracted 104:100 service points and 64:58 receiving points edge. Rublev has never made it past the Quarter-Final of a Grand Slam. 

Novak comes into the game after making a short work of Alex de Minaur, winning 6-2, 6-1, 6-2. The scoreline speaks a lot and the advanced stats only make it more imposing. He hit 26 winners compared to nine by Alex while having a decisive 42-19 receiving points advantage. Alex won zero return games and Novak won six out of 11. Djokovic has dropped just one set in the tournament and that was a tiebreaker loss against Enze Couacaud. Overall, he has once again stamped his authority and we need not delve into the resume of a player who is among the Greatest of All Time candidates.

Djokovic and Rublev have met thrice. Djokovic has won two of these They just met a few weeks ago during the ATP Finals where Novak won in straight sets.

The way Novak is playing, he is in one of those moods where it seems like nothing will stop him in the world. Hence, Rublev’s work is cut out, and the win here maybe considered the biggest one of his career, considering he has never moved past the QF of a Grand Slam. Andrey has had the honor of beating Djokovic on Novak’s home turf during the Serbian Open Final. Will history repeat? I doubt it but I believe Andrey will take at least one set here.
