Carlos Alcaraz vs MacKenzie McDonald Prediction: Charismatic Carlos takes on McDonald

The Professional Tennis scene has been intense and we are into the March window which signifies that the Roland Garros Open is just a couple of months away. The Clay Court scene brings some great tactical battles in. Anyway, in this Mexican Open game, Carlos Alcaraz is going to take on MacKenzie McDonald.

Alcaraz enters the game after reaching the Final of the Rio Open where he lost to Cameron Norrie in a thrilling final-set battle. Carlos is just 19 and has already proven to be one of the best players. He had won the Argentina Open before entering Rio Open and that was after he had missed more than three months due to an injury. Alcaraz has still managed to hold on to the second-ranking which means that the Spaniard has built such a strong portfolio that a Grand Slam title looks eminent. Let us see how the stellar player moves on from here. 

MacKenzie McDonald enters the game after losing in the Semi-Final to Taylor Fritz where he lost in a tiebreaker. MacKenzie had made a huge splash earlier this year when he defeated Rafael Nadal in the Second Round but then lost to Yoshihito Nishoka in the third round. He is currently ranked 62 and he reached the rank of 48 last August which has been the best return of his career. At 27 years old, McDonald's may have peaked but maybe this experience can translate into a special run soon.

Carlos Alcaraz and MacKenzie last met during the Cincinnati Masters where Carlos won in straight sets. Carlos has won both his battles against McDonald and is yet to drop a set.

Carlos has been back after a long time but he hasn’t looked the part and played some amazing tennis in the last week or so. MacKenzie is a tough competitor but Alcaraz has proven to be a tough match-up for him here. That is why I expect Carlos to win in two sets.
