Magda Linette vs Aryna Sabalenka Prediction: Magical Magda goes up against shining Saba

The professional tennis world is one of the most topsy-turvy terrains. While men’s tennis has had some top players like Djokovic that refuse to lose, things have been different for the women’s scene, especially since the departure of Serena Williams. Iga Swiatek has been the most accomplished player for more than a year but even her campaign ended prematurely. This is why the likelihood of an unseeded player to go on top is higher than in the men’s scene. And one of those blooming players, Magda Linette will take on Aryna Sabalenka.

Linette comes in the Semis after beating Karolina Pliskova 6-3, 7-5 to advance her cause. Magda had a strong 73% on the first serve while also pinching out an 84% win on the second serve. Magda had a 45:34 service points edge while extracting a 25-19 receiving points edge. Linette has been doing such a great job of winning. She has been such a sweet surprise, beating a highly tough draw. She finished business against 16th-seeded Anett Kontaveit, 19th-seeded Ekaterina Alexanderova, fourth-seeded Caroline Garcia(perhaps their best), and then the latest triumph against the 30th-seeded Karolina Pliskova. This is the first time the athlete has reached the Semi-Finals of a Grand Slam.

Sabalenka comes into the game after making a short work of Donna Vekic winning with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-2. Both players combined for 22 double-faults, 13 of them by Donna. Saba had a close battle in terms of receiving points, having just a three-point edge but she had a significant 43-32 service points advantage. Apart from the last game, Aryna has mostly kept her double-faults down more than her average errors. Sabalenka has been playing his best tennis and her final-round appearance in the WTA Finals gave her terrific momentum. This is the fourth time she has made it to the Semis of a Grand Slam, but she is yet to reach a Final.

Aryna has been a sharp customer and is yet to drop a set and her form is certainly a title-winning one. Magda has overcome the odds throughout the tournament so Aryna can’t let her guard down. Linette plays a calculated game whereas Aryna can commit a ton of errors in pursuit of quick points. However, this also means that Sabalenka can overpower Linette with her power. I expect Saba to do this here and win in two sets.
