Veronica Kudermetova vs Dalma Galfi Prediction: Kudermetova is the favorite here

Russian stalwart Veronica comes into the game after defeating Maryna Zavaneska 6-2, 6-3 as she nailed 6 Aces. She had a wonderful 71% first serve and went on to compile an 82% win on the 1st serve. Thus, she earned a humungous 43-27 service points. In the first round, she took on veteran Donna Vekic and won 7-5, 6-3. In both games, her first serve percentage exceeded 70.

Veronika is at the peak of her game and has had a decorated year thus far. Her peak occurred after reaching the Third Round of the Australian Open earlier this year and then during the French Open, she made her best-ever Grand Slam run while reaching the Quarter-Finals. She has an impressive 60%+ record in the Slams so far. Let us see if she carries the momentum in the US Open.

Dalma has also been impressive thus far. She defeated Harriet Dart in the Second Round 6-4, 6-0 after Dart had made it to the Round after beating Darya Kasatkina. In that game, she had a highly impressive first serve percentage of 77 and went on to win 83% on first serve, winning seven games in a row to seal the deal. Galfi defeated Nuria Parrizas-Diaz in the first round.

This has been the best year of her career for Dalma who peaked at 85th rank in June 2022. This has also been the only year where Dalma has made it to the Main Round in three straight Grand Slams. She was out in the second round of Wimbledon and the current third-round appearance is the best ever Dalma performance already in the Grand Slam. Can she carry her dream forward?

Dalma and Veronica Kudermetova have met thrice, interestingly, Dalma has beaten Kudermetova in two of the three matches. These two last met during Miami Masters when Veronika won because Galfi retired after being down 1-5 in first. To be fair, her two wins against Kudermetova came when the Russian was not even close to her prime.

Veronika has done well with her serve two times in a row. She is the bearer of hopes for the Russians as someone who has enjoyed more than a decent level of success. That is why Kudermetova is going to enter as the favorite here despite Galfi doing well this year. I believe Veronica is going to take this one in two sets.
