Spirit DSP to power LG U+’s popular mobile app

Korean mobile carrier LG U+ has selected Spirit DSP’s TeamSpirit Voice&Video Engine Mobile as the engine to power HD-quality VVoIP (Voice&Video Over IP) calling on the operator's popular U+070 mobile application service.

LG U+'s U+070 mobile application was launched at the end of 2011 and is currently available on Android mobile devices. It will also soon be available on Apple's operating systems iOS (5) and other smartphones and tablets.

The TeamSpirit Voice&Video Engine is a digital signal and network processing SDK optimized for mobile platforms. It is designed to enable development of multi-platform voice and video over IP applications. It purports to enable superior HD voice and video communications on a wide variety of mobile and desktop platforms.

Mavenir announces mobile cloud messaging solution

Mavenir Systems has launched a new mobile cloud messaging (MCM) solution for mobile and converged operators, aimed at responding to the threat posed by OTT messaging providers.

The solution is bundled with a client for multiple smart phone ecosystems that can be branded and localized.

Mavenir claims the device can add value to operator service bundles, increase data penetration, target mobile advertisements and up-sell value added services, such as cloud storage and business packages.

Polycom unveils video collaboration apps for smartphones

Polycom has unveiled Polycom RealPresence Mobile, a video collaboration software solution for smartphones.

The solution allows mobile users to connect with other standards-based video systems including immersive video rooms, group/desktop systems, laptops, tablets, and smartphones.

Polycom RealPresence Mobile will initially available in early March on the Apple iPhone 4S and soon on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) smartphones.

SPB Software announces glasses-free 3D user interface for Android tablets

SPB Software has launched a glasses-free 3D user interface for Android tablets.

With the Shell 3D Tablet Edition mobile operators and device manufacturers can now create customized 3D tablet interfaces for their clients, the company said.

The Shell 3D Tablet Edition uses auto-stereoscopic technology to create a 3D experience without the need for specialized tablet screens.

The tablet edition follows the launch of smartphone-based Shell 3D.

MobiWorld Media demos new 3D user interface

MobiWorld Media (SPB TV trademark), which provides technology solutions for mobile TV, is demonstrating its new SPB TV 3D user interface at Mobile World Congress.

The new UI promises significant advances in power, speed and fidelity.

SPB TV 3D enables content browsing, channel

storing, smart search, a TV guide with reminders, picture-in-picture mode,

and social network integration.

The UI will enable mobile operators and TV providers

to deliver live and VOD content to multiscreen and multiplatform devices.

Aircom releases two new upgrades

Aircom International has released ASSET 8.0 and CONNECT 8.0, the upgrades of its planning products, ASSET and CONNECT, which are designed to address technology evolution, automation tasks and usability market requirements.

ASSET 8.0 is significantly more visual and collaborative, introducing Web Maps to the existing ASSET map view and continuing with enhanced Google Earth exporting capabilities. Analysis zones and areas for location-based services have also been integrated.

CONNECT 8.0 shares the same visual capabilities as ASSET 8.0, also enabling the ability to use Web Maps and exporting data to Google Earth. It contains a productivity pack for Automatic Frequency and Capacity Planning in backhaul networks, and adds LTE support for its Carried Traffic Analysis feature.
