Doing the rounds at the mill today is a rumor that HTC is developing a tablet and that it will be ready in Q1 2011.
Many were expecting a tablet announcement at HTC's event in London last week where the Desire Z and Desire HD were revealed - particularly since the company has the smartphone credentials to take a decent stab at the tablet market.
There's no reason to doubt that HTC would be making a tablet, as most other smartphone manufacturers have been rumored, or are confirmed, to be making tablets. Dell, Acer, BlackBerry, LG, Nokia and Motorola all have rumored devices in the works.
With Samsung's Galaxy Tab out soon and other confirmed tablets from Toshiba and Notion Ink on their way it would seem HTC is the only one absent from the list.
Digitimes' vague report that a Taiwanese component manufacturer has confirmed the existence of a HTC tablet is believable, though the site has been the source of similar stories in the past.
It has also announced that three Acer Android 3.0 tablets will launch in a similar time frame. If true, it's one of the more exciting possible tablets and would feature smartphone components and Android 3.0 Gingerbread.
