Telecom Asia Sport has learned that Mexican national team and Monterrey player César Montes may end up in a Russian club during the winter transfer window.

The central defender, who played a full match against Poland (0-0) at the World Cup, is ready to consider offers from teams in the Russian Premier League.

This information was confirmed to Telecom Asia by football intermediary Sergei Galunov.

César Montes

Dinamo wanted to buy César this summer, but the deal eventually failed. We had numerous conversations with his agent about his possible move to the RPL. The player is open to offers from Russia. This is a very high quality central defender, the main player of the Mexican national team. Many could see him in the game against Poland. He's very strong physically, good in one-on-one battles, good in aerial play. Many European clubs are watching him for a reason. I can say with 100% confidence that he will play well in any of the Russian top clubs. But this is a two-edged sword: the better he plays in the World Cup, the bigger his transfer fee will be. Therefore, it will be more difficult to bring him to Russia. That said, a transfer of the Mexican is a win-win option, because Mexicans are very much in demand on their domestic market. In the current season in the Mexican championship there is a limit on foreigners in the scheme 15+10 (15 local players, 10 foreigners), and next season it will be more strict on the formula 17+8.

Sergei Galunov

Dynamo negotiated the purchase of Montes with Monterrey in August. Dinamo board member Dmitry Gafin in an interview with RB Sport noted that the sides didn't find agreement on the numbers and the transfer conditions.

The player's agent Gelu Rodriguez told Sport24 that Dinamo had difficulties paying for the player's transfer. For the same reason the club couldn't acquire the Israeli Eden Kartsev.

The Transfermarkt portal values the 25-year-old Montes at 7 million euros. He has 42 matches for the national team of Mexico on his record. Earlier AS reported that Espanyol are interested in the player too.
