South Africa beat Bangladesh by six wickets to further their T20 World Cup campaign while Bangladesh is now officially out of the Semi-Finals race with four losses. Bangladesh fell to a measly 84 runs which South Africa gunned down with 6 wickets and more than six overs to spare.
Bangladesh blown away by Rabada early
On a wicket that aided the seamers, Bangladeshi batters had no chance against the bowling of Kagiso Rabada. The seamer clanked the top-order of Bangladesh and the team lost Naim, Sarkar, and Rahim to his fast bowling. After that Mahmudullah didn’t last long either and the innings fell apart completely.
Only Liton Das and Mehdi Hasan could go between 20-30 runs with Das making 24 and Mehdi top-scoring for the team with 27. Speedsters Rabada and Nortje shared three wickets each while brilliant Tabraiz Shamsi took two and Dwaine Pretorius had one wicket in an all-round bowling effort.
Early wobble for South African but captain Bavuma and Rassie rescue
South African top-order also suffered early losses, the team saw three batters back in the dugout at the score of 33 with de Kock, Hendricks, and Markram going early. From there, Rassie van der Dussen and Temba Bavuma batted cautiously to build a 47 runs partnership. A sensational catch by Shoriful saw the back of Rassie but the Africans needed just 5 runs from there. David Miller finished the business with a boundary. South Africa will face a tough England outfit in the next game with their Semis hope on the line.
Taskin Ahmed once again had impressive returns, clinching two wickets for just 18 runs in four overs. Shoriful Islam conceded a mere 18 runs in his four overs while Mehdi Hasan and Nasum Ahmed shared a wicket each.
