An ATP source claims that toilet breaks during ATP and WTA events may be shortened after the controversy caused during the Andy Murray-Stefanos Tsitsipas match in the US Open. Stefanos took an eight-minute washroom break and Andy Murray called it “cheating” as he claimed the break broke as the Greek took the break after the end of the fourth set in a five-hour-long game. Tsitsipas called Andy’s reaction as “sour grapes” claiming that the tennis star is frustrated after losing the game. While Alexander Zverev supported Andy Murray’s comments, Reilly Opelka showed cognizance towards Stefanos.

The Source had the following to say: ”There will be a change to the rules for bathroom breaks and on-court medical timeouts as well. I hope that before the next season begins in January, we will have a stricter rule when it comes to toilet breaks and medical timeouts."
