Fiorentina vs Udinese Prediction: Will the home team be able to rehabilitate themselves?

Fiorentina lost the first leg of their Conference League semi-final to Switzerland Basel on Thursday and will play a home game against Udinese on Sunday. Will the Florentines be able to rehabilitate themselves?

Conference League matches at the season's end are far more critical for the Fiorentina side than the domestic league games, where the team is no longer in the running for the tournament. Perhaps that increased responsibility prevented Fiorentina from succeeding in the first leg of the semi-final against Basel. Vincenzo Italiano's side opened the scoring in the first half but failed to take the lead before conceding twice in the game's closing stages. It was a 1:2 defeat for the Florentines, but they will now go on to win the return leg in Switzerland.

The team had previously played two games on home soil. First, Udinese beat Napoli 1:1 (a draw suited Napoli) in the league title match and then confidently took on the last team in the championship, Sampdoria (2:0). In total, Udinese has not lost in a row in seven games at home soil, the same cannot be said for the away games. The visiting team has lost three games in a row and was beaten five times in their previous seven away matches.

Not only have Udinese been scoring hardly at all away, but they have also failed to score on the road, with just one away goal in their last five matches. Why shouldn't this trend be confirmed in the game against Fiorentina? There is no reason to do so. The Florentines are also unlikely to prove themselves offensively. We're betting on a low-scoring game here, and we also have a slight preference for Fiorentina, again, given Udinese's abysmal away statistics.
