The Aztecs enter the match after a grinding 56:55 win against the Creighton Bluejays as Lamont Butler scooped up 18 points. The score was tied at 56:56 after a Baylor Scheimann layup with 32 seconds on the clock. The Aztecs got a break when Darrion Tramell was fouled with a second left and he had two attempts from the line, after missing the first, he made the second to win the game.
Aztecs limited Bluejays to a mere 2/17 from the three-point line but they made just one more three on a poor percentage. The Aztecs had 11 more field goal attempts, thanks to four more offensive rebounds and three fewer turnovers. The Aztecs’ defense has been tremendous and they haven’t allowed more than 64 points which were by Alabama, one of the best offenses. The amazing defense has limited the opposition to the 50s.
Florida Atlantic Owls
The Owls come into this game after defeating the Kansas State Wildcats 79:76 as Vladislav Goldin racked up 14 points and 13 rebounds. The Owls continued a trail of close wins and all their wins have been in single digits. They just sneaked one against the Memphis Tigers and since then they have been sneaking games through immaculate discipline. This has been a nervy but exciting run for them thus far.
In their last game, the Owls shot around 48% from the field, an impressive 39% from deep and over 80% from the free-throw line. Four starters eclipsed the 10+ points mark on a high percentage. Johnell Davis had another impressive game, putting in 13 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. The Owls committed a mind-boggling 22 turnovers but 14-5 offensive rebounds at a high rate.
Expert Betting Tips
The Aztecs have been playing the best defense and they have not allowed any team to go on long scoring runs. The Owls have been a bit sloppy but they have gritted their way out. Let us see whose style of play will prevail here. I see a low-scoring game and back the Aztecs to eke out a close game.
